History of Malachite "Stone of Transformation"

Malachite, one of the first green pigments, was first used in Egypt. The Badarian culture (4500 B.C.) used the pigment as eye paint even before the first Egyptian dynasty. They were found together with grinding pebbles which were used to grind the ore into powder to be used as green eye-paint.

An important copper ore, it is found wherever copper deposits occur, namely Chile, United States (New Mexico, Arizona), Zaire, Zimbabwe, Nambia, former Soviet Union, and Australia.
